TOP 10 BEST LIPSTICK TIPS

You don’t have to be a makeup genius to know that lipstick can make a big impact—taking your face from drab to dramatic or simple to sexy—in seconds. But these brilliant expert tips will show you how to make it look better, last longer and work harder.

Trick #1: Start With a Smooth Canvas

Gently exfoliate lips before applying color to make sure it goes on flawlessly, especially if you’re swiping on a dark or bold pigment that can accentuate every imperfection. “I love using a homemade scrub of sugar and honey to remove flakes and dryness,” says Dana Chasen Thomases, a makeup artist and owner of Beauty Muse Bridal.

Trick #2: Lay the Foundation

If you want the exact color you see in the tube, you need to start with a blank canvas and not the pink one that’s created by your natural lip color. To create a blank canvas, apply a thin coat of foundation all over your lips and blend over your lip line so it disappears into the rest of your skin. Or apply a smidgen of lip balm on the lips, blot and add a neutral powder to create an impromptu base that can last even longer than foundation, says makeup artist Hillary Clark.

Trick #3: Turn Any Lipstick Into a Long-Wearing One

You can make any lipstick go the distance by following these steps, says Thomases. After applying a coat of lipstick, blot it with a single-ply tissue. Then use a large eye shadow brush to dust the lips with a small amount of translucent powder. Follow with another layer of lipstick. Finally blot and powder twice before applying a final swipe of lipstick.

Trick #4: When It Comes to Red Lipstick, Size Matters

Deep dark red can make thin lips look even skinnier, says makeup artist Mai Quynh. To maximize a scarlet smile, opt instead for a bright orange-red.

Trick #5: Plump Up Your Pout by Prepping With Liner and Shadow

To plump up your pout, start by fattening up your top lip. Trace the cupid’s bow with a flesh-tone liner, such as Cargo Reverse Lip Liner, and blend upward, says Clark. To create the illusion of a shadow and a fuller lower lip, use an angled eyeliner brush, pick up a touch of matte brown shadow and trace a line outside of the center of the lower lip line.

Trick #6: Or Try This Faster, Simpler Lip-Boosting Trick

Select two lip liners with the same undertones, but one to two shades apart. Line the top lip with the lighter of the two, and use the darker tone on the bottom lip line. “The effect should be subtle—not obvious—to trick the eye into seeing a fuller lip,” says Clark.

Trick #7: Become a Better Blotter

When wearing a bold lip color, position your painted lips around one of your fingers and glide it through your lips. “It may look a bit funny, but any excess lip color on the inside of your lips will come off on your finger, instead of on your teeth,” says Thomases.

Trick #8: For a Perfectly Juicy Lip Stain, Pick Up Some Cherry Kool-Aid

“Just wet the buds of a Q-tip with water and dip them in the bag of Kool-Aid,” says makeup artist Daniel Martin. “Place the Q-tip in the center of your closed mouth and slide back and forth for a pop of color that stays true to tone for hours.”

Trick #9: Pick Your Perfect Everyday Pink

To find the most flattering pink for you—one that’s just a touch deeper than your natural lip color—you don’t need to look further than your own mouth. Just peek inside your cheek or lower lip and match your new lipstick to that color, says Clark.

Trick #10: Breathe New Life Into Old Lipstick With Gloss

“An unexpected lip gloss color can give your favorite lipstick a fresh look each season,” says Thomases. She loves topping any lipstick with a soft violet gloss, such as Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss in Lilac Sugar, or a bolder purple jewel tone, like NARS Lip Gloss in Revolt.

TOP 7 ATTRACTIVE LIP MAKEUP TIPS FOR DIFFERENT LIP SHAPES

Lip makeup is vital! It brings our whole face makeup together and offers a proper definition to the face.
But lip makeup does not come in a one shape fits all format! We all have different types of lips—some of us are blessed with fuller lips while others have thin lips. Whether you have thin, even or fuller lips, makeup has the power to make them appear more beautiful and well accentuated. Today, we decided to dedicate a makeup lesson on the different lip shapes and how to do makeup to bring out the best in each of one of us.

Let us have a look at attractive makeup tips for different lip shapes:

1. Top Heavy Lips:

Majority of Indian women have top heavy lips. Effective makeup tips and tricks can easily make top heavy lips appear even and beautiful.
Makeup for top heavy lips is simple:

  •     Start by lining your lips from the center of your lips to the outside by following your natural lip shape.
  •     Then, apply a bright lipstick on the bottom of your lips and a slightly darker tone of the brighter lipstick on the top to create an illusion of smaller space to give a smaller lip look.
  •     You can also apply the same lip color on the upper as well as lower lips and then apply a dab of white pencil or eyeshadow to the center of the lower lip to achieve balance, evenness and fuller look.
  •     Another trick to follow to make heavy lips appear smaller is to use a lip pencil and start filling your lips just inside the natural line and then finish it off with lipstick.
  •     The simplest trick to make fuller and heavy lips appear smaller is to use a dark toned lip color as it will reduce the prominence of fuller lips.

2. Bottom Heavy Lips:

Bottom heavy lips are actually pretty and attractive! But some women look to hide that pout!
Here’s how you can make bottom heavy lips look better:
The simplest trick to even out bottom heavy lips is to use the same lip color on the upper as well as lower lips, and then apply a dab of white pencil or creamy nude matte eyeshadow only to the center of the upper lip to achieve balance, evenness and fuller look.

3. Uneven Lips:

If your upper and lower lip shape and size do not match, then you have uneven lips.
Here are a few tips to manage uneven lips:

  •     People with uneven lips should use a lip pencil to outline your upper lip, making both the sides of the upper lip match up first and then follow the same for the lower lips.
  •     Then, smudge the lip liner with a very light hand to eliminate any rough and hard edges to achieve a natural finish.
  •     Be careful with this trick! The lip liner has to be drawn with a very light hand and blended well otherwise it might turn out to be unflattering.

4. Flat Lips:
Flat lips have no dimension or depth and appear very flat without prominent outline. It is a best choice to use light and softer lip colors for people with flat lips as dark lip colors will make lips appear very flat and small.
Flat lips can be given a good shape with this trick:

  •     Start by outlining your lips slightly outside the natural lip line of your lips.
  •     Shimmery and frosty lip formulas work well on thinner and flatter lips as it adds a fuller and plumping effect.
  •     Ombre lip effects also work well on thinner and flat lips.
  •     Start by filling the outer corners of your lips with a dark lip color and fill the center of the lips with a soft or bright lip color to create a gorgeous ombre lip effect.
  •     If you are not ready to sport ombre lips, you can apply the same lipstick color all over your lips and then add a shimmery highlighter to the center of your upper as well as bottom lips to create a plumper lip appearance.

5. Thin Lips:
Thin lips require more dimension and space.

And we have just the trick for you to make your lips look absolutely stunning:

  •     Start by applying lip liner slightly outside your natural lip line and then softly smudge it.
  •     Then, apply a darker lip color to the lower lip and softer lip color to your upper lip and blend everything together with a clean lip brush.

6. Overlarge Lips:
Overlarge lips have the power to dominate the whole face. So, always choose softer lip colors with a rich matte consistency to keep your lips appear soft and even.

Here’s how you can draw attention away from overlarge lips:

  •     Try nude lip.
  •     It is best to do a heavy smokey eye or a highlighted cheek area for face makeup to carry away attention from the overlarge lip size.

7. Small Lips:
Small lips look cute on some but most want to have that lovely pout.

Follow these tips to make small lips look more prominent:

  •     You can apply shimmery, frosty and glossy lipstick formulas which will add fullness to the small lips.
  •     Do not apply very dark lip colors as it will make lips appear smaller.
  •     Choose brighter and softer lip colors to accentuate your lips the best way.

Lip makeup definitely requires practice. Study your lips by standing in front of the mirror and try these tricks and tips.

TOP 25 EYE MAKEUP TIPS

Whether you’ve been a dedicated makeup enthusiast or you are someone who’s just starting out with makeup, when it comes to the eyes, makeup can be a little tricky. There’s no harm in having a few tricks up your sleeve so you can work that magic and achieve eye makeup that is so on-point. We’ve put together a list of 25 simple eye makeup tips for all the beginners out there who have been overwhelmed by all that they come across in the world of makeup.

Worry not, we’ve got your back! Just keep these simple tips on top of your mind when you’re doing your eyes, and you will go straight from being a novice to a Pro.

Simple Eye Makeup Tips For Beginners

  •  Eyeliner Tips
  •  Mascara Tips
  •  Eyeshadow Tips
  •  Eyebrow tips

Eyeliner may or may not be a staple for you, but it is one of the most basic steps of doing your eye makeup. It gives you the freedom to work on the shape of your eyes, emphasize them and fill in any sparse looking lashes. It depends on the texture of the eyeliner and your preference as to how you’d like to apply this – clearly defined or smudged – it looks great either ways.
Let’s take a quick look at some of the tips and techniques for this step.

  1.     Ensure your eyelids are clean and then apply a primer on them, so the eye makeup does not smudge and stays on for longer.
  2.     To make your eyelashes look denser, apply the eyeliner as close to the lashline as possible so it appears to be a part of your natural lash line. This is called tight-lining. Make a dotted line from the outer to the inwards corner and connect the dots (you can use a stiff slant brush to blend the dots out into an effortless soft line).
  3.     Make sure the tip of your liner is thin but blunt to achieve precision and so you get the perfect shape. You can also freeze your eyeliner before sharpening to keep it from crumbling.
  4.     To accomplish the perfect winged eyeliner, use a liquid liner – start on the lash line at the pupil and work your way towards the corners. If your hand is not steady enough for liquid liner then first line your eyes with a pencil liner, then trace over it with your liquid liner.

(If you’re in a rush, you should just skip the liquid liner in your best interest!)
  5.   To accomplish a smoky eye, opt for a pencil liner as these tend to be softer and creamier. Also, you can smudge it out using a smudging brush for that effortlessly cool smoky eye.

 6.   As you age, opt for more subtle colors like brown for a more elegant look and apply mascara to complement the simple look.
Note: Always tilt your face up and look down as you apply eyeliner. Doing this ensures you achieve symmetry.

Don’t you agree that mascara completely transforms your eyes, giving you that extra oomph? The magical mascara wand makes you look bright-eyed and youthful. It’s a total game changer and the only kind of drama that I like.
Here are some important tips for bang-on mascara application

7.   Always start applying your mascara from the roots of your lashes and wiggle your way to the tips. Doing this instantly voluminizes your lashes and does not weigh them down.

8.   After applying one coat of mascara, wait for about ten seconds to go in with a second coat (if desired). This way, your lashes don’t get clumpy!

9.    Wipe off excess mascara from the wand on a tissue before applying, so it’s easy to maneuver and won’t clump (you will also avoid the horrid spidery-lashes look).

10    Before you go in with mascara, always make sure to curl your lashes using a high-quality eyelash curler. When you go in with curling, pinch your eyelash curler at last base and hold it tightly rotating upwards.

11.    If you want to make your mascara last longer, then stop pumping the wand while pulling it out (this way you are only sending in the air to dry the product out), just swirl it to prevent it from drying out.

 12.   The way you hold your mascara matters! Hold your wand horizontally for thicker lashes and vertically (especially for the lower lashes) for a more natural look.

Note: For best results, mascara should be the last step of your eye makeup.
Eyeshadow does the job of adding depth and giving dimension to your eyes. If it’s applied correctly,  it makes your eyes look bigger and helps accentuate your eye color. Want some tips?

 13.   Invest in high-quality products and brushes. They will go a long way besides ensuring proper application and blending.

  14.  If you want your eyeshadow to stay put all day and not crease besides wanting the eyeshadow color to really pop out – use a good primer before you go in with the eye shadow.

On the other hand, if you want to make a less pigmented eyeshadow look vibrant and poppy, cover your eyelid with a white eyeliner first. This helps to cancel out the color of your skin and it creates an even base for your eyeshadow.
 15.  For the bottom area of your eye (that is just near the lash line) – use a dark shade of eyeshadow, for the area above that, use a medium shade and for the top, use a light shade and blend them well
Eyebrows are often underrated, and I can’t begin to stress how important they are to provide a structure to your face. Well groomed brows are indeed a game changer, they frame the eyes and they drastically ‘up’ your beauty quotient. If you are someone who has over-plucked them, then worry not, because just a little bit of added definition will make a big impact!

Want some tips?
    16. There are various brow products available in the market. Pick a shade that best suits you hair color and fill in any gaps using the product.

 17.   The most important thing to remember while defining your eyebrows is to keep the look as natural as possible. For this – make sure to blend the product out properly to avoid any harsh lines and such.

18.    Use a subtle highlighter right beneath the brow, under your arch to show off the shape and to add height to your brows.

19.    If your eyebrows are out of control, use an eyebrow gel to keep them in place. They also tend to look a lot better and groomed with just a little bit of that gel.

20   Do you want to know the best trick in the book? For a bolder look, use an angled stiff brush and wet it before you fill your brows in with matte brown eyeshadow.
Few More Eye Makeup Tips For Beginners
21.    To avoid your base from ruining due to eyeshadow fall-out, finish your eye makeup first and then proceed with the base to ensure your makeup looks fresh.

22.    If you are planning to wear loud eye makeup, keep the lips subtle. It’s always best to emphasize one feature at a time.

 23.   To make your eyes look brighter and youthful, highlight the inner corner of the eyes with a light color of eyeshadow.

 24.   If you want to instantly curl your stubborn lashes, use a blow-dryer on your curler (ensure it’s not too hot) before you curl them – this way, they will stay curled for longer.

 25.   If you’ve got excess product, say eyeshadow, use a blotting paper to remove the excess eyeshadow without disturbing the eyeliner.
Those were some really simple eye makeup tips and hacks for every beginner out there who has been overwhelmed by the world of makeup. These tips cover all the basics and hopefully, you will keep some of these pointers in mind the next time you’re doing your makeup.

 5.   Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face.

6.    Dab on some toner to close the pores, moisturize and dab on some under eye cream to provide relief to the region.
Method 2: Removal of Eye Makeup Using Baby Shampoo?

  1.     Remove makeup from the rest of your face.
  2.     Splash water on your face, concentrating on your eyes. Pour some baby shampoo onto your palm and work out a rich lather.
  3.     Apply this on your eye and make to and fro motions.
  4.     Splash water again to remove the soap content.
